Direct Primary Care, or DPC, is a model of healthcare that puts patients first by getting rid of the red tape that constrains traditional practices. How? It's simple: we don't accept insurance, and believe it or not – this actually saves you money in the long run.
Using a membership model works well for both our practice and our patients. For us, shifting from a fee-for-service model to a membership-based model means spending less time on paperwork (billing and coding, insurance-related forms) and more time providing care. For patients, having a predictable, transparent, monthly membership fee is a welcome change from the world of copays and unpredictable charges for every appointment. Patients are able to budget for their healthcare needs more easily and are less likely to avoid seeking care due to financial concerns.
Yes, the practice sees patients ages 6 and up currently.
You won't have to pay a co-pay for office visits or routine physicals. Also you'll be able to avoid many visits altogether by sending your questions directly to us via email and text – something you won't get from a traditional practice. If we had contracts with insurance companies, we would be legally obligated to charge higher prices.
More importantly, since you are getting unlimited care from us from your membership, you can cut way back on your insurance premiums. Most DPC patients find a high-deductible, low-premium insurance plan so they're covered in the case of a major health issue/emergency. Otherwise, we've got you covered.
Yes — we recommend that you still carry insurance or a health-sharing plan to cover unexpected, high-cost medical events like hospitalizations, surgeries, or specialist care. Direct Primary Care (DPC) is not insurance; it’s a membership that covers your everyday healthcare needs with more time, attention, and easier access to your provider.
Many of our patients find that a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) pairs perfectly with DPC. The high-deductible plan is there for the rare catastrophic events, while we’re here for everything else: check-ups, sick visits, chronic care management, and health questions as they arise — all without copays or surprise bills. This combination often saves money while giving you a more personal and responsive healthcare experience.
At Apotheosis, we’ve chosen not to work with insurance — and that’s a good thing for you. It means we can focus on what really matters: you, your health, and your goals. Without the red tape and endless paperwork that insurance companies demand, we can keep our patient panel small — around 500–600 patients instead of the 2,000+ you’ll find in most traditional practices. That smaller size gives us more time to truly listen, dive deep into your concerns, and work together on long-term solutions. You won’t feel rushed or like just another number. Instead, you’ll get longer visits, easier access to us through text, call, or email, and a real relationship with your provider. Plus, without insurance in the middle, we can offer labs and common medications at significantly lower prices. It’s healthcare that’s simpler, more personal, and actually built around you.
You can still become a member, but will be required sign a waiver that says neither you, nor us, will directly bill Medicare for services we provide. Medicare will still cover the costs of labs, radiology, medications, specialist visits, hospitalizations and any services we don't personally perform.
Of course! Practitioner access is one of the greatest benefits of the direct primary care model. Because illness and injury do not respect regular office hours, you may call, text, or email your practitioner whenever you need.
Yes. We understand that sometimes, getting to the doctor's office just isn't possible. We will assess the need for home visits on a case-by-case basis and schedule these appointments at our discretion. Please note, there is an additional fee for home visits as travel and packing up supplies is required. Contact us for more information.
You may want to check with your human resources department regarding the use of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) as possible payment options for your membership. If you are unable to use these funds to pay for the membership fee directly, there is a good chance that you can still use your HSA/FSA as reimbursement for certain services provided through our office.
The terms are often mistakenly used interchangeably, but they are not the same. Both DPC and concierge practices charge a periodic fee, however, under the concierge model, this fee only gets you access; that is, it doesn't actually cover any of your care. Instead a concierge practice still bills insurance for your visits. Under DPC, your visits and other care are included in your fee, plus you're provided with other incredible benefits like wholesale pricing for labs and radiology studies, deeply discounted prescription prices, and direct digital communication with your doctor.
Our membership agreement is structured as an annual contract to ensure consistent and high-quality care. However, we understand circumstances can change, so if you ever need to cancel early, simply provide us with 30 days’ written notice, and we’ll honor your request without penalty. Your membership would then terminate at the end of that 30-day notice period.
Because we have the time necessary to get to know you, we seek to prevent or reduce hospitalizations and specialty referrals. In instances where those types of care are required, we will certainly continue to work with your hospitalist during your hospital stay as well as work closely with any specialist. In some cases, depending on the level of care and the sorts of expertise required, we may rely on those specialized caregivers to manage your treatment.
Yes we have a 10% discount for annual payments.
